CBD Oil vs Hemp (Seed) Oil
Given the rampant misperceptions surrounding cannabis today, we find it essential to address these misperceptions about the differences in cannabis-derived products. Although both CBD oil and hemp oil are extracted from the same plant species, cannabis sativa, it is important to note that CBD oil and hemp seed oil are derived using completely different extraction methods from different parts of the plant, and the two compounds thus have very different properties.
Hemp Oil, also referred to as hemp seed oil or virgin hemp oil, is extracted from the seeds of hemp plants through the cold-press method. Hemp seed oil is rich in antioxidants and omega fatty acids and offers a wide range of health and cosmetic benefits. It is fairly inexpensive and has been available in health food and grocery stores for decades. However, the most important thing to note is that hemp seeds (and therefore hemp seed oil) contain only trace amounts of cannabinoids, including CBD. While hemp seed oil is an excellent wellness ingredient, it cannot offer any of the benefits that our CBD-rich products will provide.
CBD Oil, also known as hemp CBD oil or cannabinoid-rich hemp oil, is extracted from the flowers, leaves, and stalks of the hemp plant. Industrial hemp plants are bred specifically to be high in CBD and low or non-existent in THC; moreover, our CO2 extraction process completely removes all remaining psychoactive THC compounds, leaving behind the purest CBD-rich product legally available. In addition to the benefits that hemp seed oil offers, our non-psychoactive CBD oils also support your body’s state of balance through your endocannabinoid system or ECS. The ECS regulates the functions of sleep, hormone, pain, appetite, mood, immune response, and more by creating natural cannabinoids that act in neural communications. Our pure full-spectrum CBD oils supplement your body’s own naturally-occurring cannabinoids, promoting better sleep, regulated moods, improved immune response, and a myriad of other CBD benefits.
Unfortunately, many brands are using these terms interchangeably and incorrectly. While both CBD oil and hemp seed oil are healthful and will not cause psychoactive reactions or harm to your body, they are distinctly different compounds and will offer very different benefits.
